Mommy Moments

A friend recently posted a question on my birth board, asking if any of us thought we were "bad" mommies.

I thought it was an interesting question, and did some thinking.

I know there are bad mommies out there, but I think, for the most part, we're good mommies.

We have dumb mommy moments.

We have ok mommy moments.

We have impatient mommy moments.

We have great mommy moments.

But, I think if you love your child, and try to be the best mommy you can be, you can't be bad.

I left a lit candle in our restroom last night. Poopy got it down and carried it to me. Luckily she didn't burn herself. It was thoughtless of me. But, it doesn't make me a bad Mom. Hell, I'm human. I know I won't do it again, and that is what matters.

I let her fall off the kitchen counter. Yep, off the counter. I'm still not a bad mommy.

I'm not at my best right now, being pregnant. I chose not to beat myself up about it. I'm really doing the best I can. She won't remember that I didn't read her favorite book for the 50th time today when she's grown up. She will remember how much I love her. At the end of the day, that's what matters.

I don't think any mommy can give 100% of themselves to mommyhood each and every day. I just don't think it's possible.

I'm a good mom, most moments.

I hear you on that one - it is so hard. You know there are parents out there who REALLY aren't good parents, hitting, drugs, alcohol - there are a ton of awful situations that many children are in.

We are great moms - that's for sure!! We shouldn't be so hard on ourselves.
